Wildcat

Finally started to put words to my assignment. Its actually really interesting. A question of taxonomy - what is a wildcat and how can you clearly identify one? How different are domestic cats to wildcats - if at all? This is a picture of a Scottish wildcat - it could also be an angry domestic cat - can you tell the difference?

Although they are theoretically two different species they can and do breed and produce fertile offspring. So are they really different species? And if all the wildcats in Scotland are actually hybrids - why are we conserving them?

Do we bring over more 'real' wildcats from Europe to restart the population? But are they 'real' wildcats? And what's the point f they will all hybridise eventually? Now I just need to get that into a 1000 word university essay with references!!
