Walk to Blakeney
Monday 27th May 2024
Today its not going to rain and the sun might even come out so we are off for a walk to Blakeney (taking the coastal path). But first we went down to the beach at Wells to see if I could swim, it is very flat and the sea goes out a long way so even though it was only about 90 minutes to high tide I could only paddle! But it was good and we saw a few seals on the beach which was amazing! On the way back we noticed that lots of sailing boats were going out - it is the first good day today and everyone was taking advantage of it.
We set off and walked to Stiffkey where there is a wooden boat museum (it is the people that recused and rebuilt the Lucy Lavers). The museum is excellent and well worth a visit. We discovered that they have a flotilla of wooden boats on the first day of the Wells Festival in August so we immediately contacted Mum and Dorothy to see if we could come back and stay then - it will be amazing! Then we walked on to Blakeney (this is where the boats go to see the famous Blakeney Seal colony). It was really pretty but a very small town, we stopped for a quick drink in the pub while we waited for our bus back to Wells. Tonight we ate in Sands restaurant, it is on the first floor looking out on the harbour and has amazing views - we managed to get a window seat! I had a delicious crab salad!
