Swimming today!

Tuesday 25th January 2022

8am swim today - water temperature was 3.5 degrees C. This is the coldest I have ever been swimming. There were about 10 other people - some just in swimming costumes - no idea how they did that! In fact I was Ok apart from my hands - they hurt so much from the cold that I only swam 200m. I am going to look now and see if I can get thicker ones! I made full use of the Dry Robe - it is great for this sort of temperature. I will go back next week.

I spent the rest of the day at university. One of our modules is a small research project - we need to have a proposal ready to submit by 17th February so no time to waste! I want to do some research on nectar availability in hedgerows early in the year - so I walked around the campus today to make sure I had enough suitable hedgerows to survey. And there are plenty which are full of Blackthorn (which is the earliest flowering hedgerow shrub) so that is good - now I need to work out exactly what I am going to do!
