Progress in the garden!

Sunday 16th January 2022

Hard work today but we made great progress. The pond is looking good - I will put the stones in the pond tomorrow then will leave it until I can buy a couple of pond plants. We also replaced the rotting raised beds with new ones, they are two planks high so we also needed to add more compost to fill them up. A few trips to Wickes and it was all done!! Phew - a bit of hard work but looking good.

We have also decided the next steps for the garden - there are a couple of small tress that have to go. One a 5M conifer that takes up too much room already and we cant let it keep growing! And a small willow - which wont stay small so needs to come out now! Then we are planning to plant a small native hedge across the garden, hopefully that will also help attract more wildlife and birds together with the new pond! We are already getting a good number of birds coming to the fat balls. Today we identified a female blackcap - really pretty but I need to bring my camera and zoom lens to the cottage to take a good photo!
