Palermo

Friday 11th March 2025

Off on the train tomorrow Palermo today. It will take us nearly 7 hours as it effectively goes half way round the island. I thought you might like to see how we are travelling with backpacks. Enough for 3 days clothes, a jacket, a pair of sandals and done wash stuff!! The train ride was lovely, it goes next to the sea mistress has beautiful views. Mount Etna in the background there!! Trains are really good here, clean, lots of space and mostly have power for charging!

The hotel is wonderful. They filled is full of cake and red wine before they would give us the keys!! The place is a converted chapel which I guess is why we have a gargoyle and statues in the bathroom! First task was to wash everything!! Then we went out.

We were last in Palermo in November 2018 and it seems much busier!! The city has so much to look at and is so beautiful but behind a lot of the great facades are crumbling buildings!! We went to a lovely bar that we really enjoyed last time we were here, it was good but not the same. I imagine it has changed owners in the last few years. Then a lively dish of pasta which was delicious!!! Vivian- cantina siciliana
