Off to Verona

Monday 31st March 2025

We had an hour in the morning to walk through Zurich to the station. I noticed lots of primroses from the train yesterday and it’s the same in gardens here. They look beautiful! We walked through the old town, it is very picturesque, but they are digging up the whole city, literally all the little cobble streets are roadworks! Next in the train to Verona by way of Milan.

The views on the journey were amazing. Switzerland is full of lakes and mountains with snow on top, with pretty towns around the edges of the water. Very difficult to get a good photo through the dirty train windows though but you get the idea!!

We walked 20 minutes to our hotel and then set off straight away to look round. What a lovely walkable city it is. We have been eating mainly meat based diet for the last few days, sandwiches and a pork pie that we brought from home! So when I saw fruit salad in the market I was so happy!! Then across the river and up the funicular to go to Cadter de Pietro where we had fabulous views of the city and an April spritz on the terrace!!

Back to the arena which is literally round the corner from our hotel! Robin spotted the best view of the day, a dinosaur cloud!! We had discovered that our hotel actually had a good restaurant so we went there. It was amazing, could end up being the best eatery of the trip! A bit over the top on the decoration but we loved it!
