The last visit of our tour was to Monkeyworld Monkey World Dorset Days Out - Primate Ape Rescue Centre. I have to admit I was a bit sceptical about visiting what I imagined to be a monkey zoo - but I was pleasantly suprised. The enclosures were really well thought out, large, with plenty of privacy if they wanted it and plenty of toys / enrichment for them as well. They rescue abused animals and look after them here. An example is about 80 chimpanzees that were rescued from an animal laboratory in China. For years they were kept in cages (see picture for an actual example) with barely room to turn around. Now they have this amazing area to live in. I am still not 100% convinced but the options for thses animals is moving to Monkeyworld or euthanasia. It was a beautiful day but we are all glad to get on the bus and go home!
