Strangely the people in our dormitory didn’t get up early, so at 7am I got up and by about 720 we were off! Another beautiful day, but luckily not so much wind!! As we were walking we heard a strange sound, I thought it was annirrigation system but we took a look and once we got our eye in we could see lots of these very noisy green frogs!! Beautiful churches are a given along the way, this one wad in Apúlia, 7km along our way.
We walked into Fao where there was obviously some sort of festival. Speakers were up everywhere, with music going, we had a little dance as we wandered through the streets! Not sure why there was a British phone box here, but we liked it, Another beautiful chapel in the town, then walking out the other side to go over the river we spotted these boats. If you look closely you can see he us setting up fireworks in the boats, it made us feel very much at home!! Go Cliffe!!!
Over the bridge and into Esposende. It’s a lovely town which welcomed the pilgrims walking through. There was more music here and a big bike race, lots of shouting and cheering!! We had Airbnb for the night so walked on to Mar. It felt like a long way, it was so hot and we were pretty done when we got there. We also discovered that the cafe and supermarket marked close to the Airbnb were a lie!! The cafe was very dubious, we had a quick drink there but worked out they could make lots more money if the got rid of their loser friends who were out the front blocking the entrance!!
The Airbnb itsslf was amazing!! A row of 5 little houses, each with 2 bedrooms, and a lovely patio with a bbq! Only problem was there was nowhere nearby to eat, we had no food and it was Sunday afternoon!! The guy was amazing and took us to the nearest supermarket in his car, we bought cooked chicken and potatoes with a salad and had a feast!! Also saw a cat that reminded us of Loki!
