Liverpool

We dropped the cats off at a new cattery this morning. They weren’t happy but they will be safer there than getting mixed up with the garden work. Then off to our first stop, Liverpool - 6 hours drive away. We got here about 330 and went straight out to look around. There has been a huge amount of regeneration. The dock area has museums and shops and there is a massive new shopping area nearby. It looks really good. We not have a short time so we did a few classics. The statues of the Beatles, which looked pretty good. The Cavern area, which is basically a few streets of bars which has the Cavern club in it. We didn’t go in!! Then we walked over to Chinatown which was a bit sad. It has an enormous Chinese arch, much bigger than the one in London. But not much is left, a few tired looking restaurants and some clan houses that have seen better days. We had a great meal then back to the hotel, the Malmaison, which is on the docks and is lovely. Their breakfast deal included a free cocktail, so we had to go to the bar to make sure we got our moneys worth!!
