Food tour

Magnificent view at breakfast, but we didn’t eat too much as we are off on a food tour! Before I left I washed everything, we are travelling for 20 days and have clothes for 3 days (like a Camino), it has made it easy to carry our stuff. Not sure Robin got the memo but that’s his problem!!

The tour guide was really good, very good at keeping the group interested! About 14 people on the English speaking tour but only us from the uk! Several from US cruise ships just here for the day. The food was carb and meat heavy, Elliott stay away!! We started with buffalo mozzarella then margarita pizza then fried pizza. All created in Naples. On to fried pasta which is what I imagine fried mac and cheese would taste like! On to a limoncello factory which was really interesting then for an spell spritz(of course). Pudding was a rum baba and a pastry thing with ricotta in it. Lastly we all managed an ice cream, which was delicious! Overall a lovely tour and very interesting but very full now!!

As part of the tour we went down Christmas street, apparently households put together Christmas diarama’s, collected through the generations. They are a big thing and there are lots of shops selling all sort of things that you could put in one. It also explained this big diarama that we found in the hotel this morning. If I could I would by a base and a few things and take them home! Love them!

After a siesta at the hotel we set out again! It is hot and very busy here, so we walked down to the seafront to take a look at the Castel del Uova, legend has it there is a big egg underneath it and if the egg breaks then Naples will fall!! Don’t know about that but the have the cannons pointing at Naples which we thought was very odd!! Driving here is madness, tiny streets, massive hills and steps and so many motorbikes!! Most of the cars are small but none smaller than this electric Citroen! Even in this I wouldn’t like to drive in the city but at least I might be able to park it! Let very dinner then back up the hill to bed.
