Elephants in Cirencester
Wednesday 4th November 2020
I found 4 life sized elephants in Cirencester today - bit of a shock! They are part of 100 elephant sculptures that will be in London Royal Parks next year to bring attention to the UN Biodiversity Conference May 2021. The conference will review the Convention on Biological Diversity's Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 - given the state of wildlife conservation at the moment I am guessing the review is not going to be positive. The question is how can we turn all these good intentions into actions that deliver results?
I also went back to Waterland today for a swim. I had found that my problem was cold feet - so ordered some wetsuit socks which turned up from Amazon 30 minutes before todays swim! OMG - they are transformational! The water was 12 degrees C and my feet were warm! Great swim in the sun - and Alan the magpie was there as ever. I have set myself a challenge to swim outdoors every week this term - excluding lockdown and self isolation! 7 swims so far - all going well.
12 degrees! Wow that's cold. How thick is your wetsuit? 5mm, 7mm?
