Coronation Meadows
Tuesday 9th February 2021
Today I caught up on a webinar from last week that I missed. Creating a Meadow in the Conwy Valley (Spring into Action with Plantlife talk) - YouTube. It was Dr Trevor Dines and it was fascinating - how he took a normal grass field to an amazing flower meadow in the space of a few years - with help of some Highland cattle! It is well worth listening to - he is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable speaker! 97% of meadows have been lost in the last 75 years which is a great loss for biodiversity and wildlife. But I learnt that there is an initiative called Coronation Meadows. A new wildflower meadow in every county to celebrate 60 years after the Queens coronation. The Coronation meadow itself is a great example of a remaining meadow in that county and then that is used to provide seeds for a nearby recipient meadow. Great idea for wildlife conservation - look it up and see which one is near you Coronation Meadows
