Conservation Grazing
Wednesday 16th December 2020
Another great day at the virtual placement - today was all about Effective Conservation. The talk in the afternoon was by Professor Phillipe Wilson on Conservation Grazing. He has been a farmer and is also the head of conservation at the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Interesting information about rare breeds and their use in wildlife conservation. Also good and realistic discussions about the needs for increasing farming productivity (we need to feed the UK!) and conservation/biodiversity. With the new Agriculture Bill coming in this is a very important conversation at the moment - this article co-authored by Phillipe is well worth reading UK Agriculture Bill: how farming and forestry could co-exist happily (theconversation.com).
