Charm

Wednesday 3rd November 2021

Believe it or not this is a charm of goldfinches that I saw on a walk today. (very difficult to photograph with a phone!) There must have been over 100 of them all flying together. I have never seen so many at one time, they were in the corner of a field that has loads of seed heads still on the plants - exactly what they were looking for! I suspect that it was seeded by the farmer as part of an agri-environment scheme. Amazing to see so many.

I also saw a stonechat - I had to stalk him along the hedgerow to get a good look at him. The only other one I have ever seen (noticed!) was down in the Isle of Wight earlier this year. They are actually quite common birds.

That was all the nature for today - the rest of it was getting on with assignments!
