We are leaving today so got up early to see if we could take a look around with less other people. It was beautiful and you can see the buildings are so impressive. I love the last photo, the sun came out at just the right time to light up the old houses.

Florencectrsin station was chaos, loads of people dnd all the trains were late, which was a worry as we had really short connection in Milan. I contacted Byway on their WhatsApp help line and they were really helpful but actually we made our connection, just! It’s a long train journey to Zurich and we got to the hotel about 5.

We went straight out to go to the Kunsthaus museum, which luckily opens til 8 on Thursdays! It is amazing! We started in the Merzerbacher collection, Rothko, Picasso etc. we liked this ibstallation by Pipilotti artist best. It had music and the lights changed colours, it was much more interesting than it sounds here!!

Next onto the Emile Buhrle collection. As you can see from the photos above it was impressive, made up of many paintings and painters that you would recognise, this is just a small selection! Bührle was a German Swiss industrialist who ended the Second World War as the richest man in Switzerland by manufacturing and selling arms to the Allies and to Nazis. He spent the war buying art looted by the Nazis. He also funded a big extension to this museum. There is a great deal of information in this collection on their individual provenance and the history of the man. Overall I thought it was well done, explanation rather than hiding it away.

Off for some good. Not as easy as it sounds as Zürich is packed but eventually we find a good place and I have rosti of course. Robin ate all his pork knuckle! The middle picture is on the ceiling of our bedroom. I really like it, it’s a good hotel.
